  • About MeHi, I’m Libby, thanks for stopping by. In a nutshell I’m wife to a very supportive husband aka the cyclist. I’m mum to  2 energetic boys, the jolly monkey (8) and the little one (6). I’m a part-time graphic design/business student, art school graduate, web nerd and self professed coffee snob. I reside in Australia’s capital having moved here from Atlanta Georgia and I still get nostalgic for southern USA life – I don’t think the cyclist feels the same. My blog started in 2007 after falling victim to a swooping bird. Mostly I document what inspires me which will usually have something to do with colour, design, fabric or handmade. Sometimes I pull out my soapbox for a rant – but not very often. My blog name is an homage to the inexact science of weather prediction, for which I have a strange fascination. I have a job that takes up 3 days of my week and in my ‘free’ time between hanging out with my little men and studying I also develop Wordpress sites for small businesses. Here’s a sample of my work: Signing Stars Heavenly Home Services Creatively Belle Handmade Jewellery Lifestyle Fitness Training Excel Australia Totom…

I purposefully went in search of squares to relieve my eyes from all those circles. I found myself so struck with the beautiful silver square shaped jewellery on Etsy. I love square jewellery, I think I like the idea of something so straight and formal on the human body that is round and irregular. My…

Here is one challenge that has been messing with my head for the last 2 days. The task was to create a logo for a restaurant called ‘circle’ and we were allowed to use the word circle and the circle shape and we had to come up with 40 variations. Let me just say at…

Uni started back this week – my first week back since last June. I study via distance and they are usually very organised but one subject (I’m only doing 2) has been a bit of a fiasco this week; no lecturer, no material, broken links to readings, no answers to our queries on the subject…

Out shopping last week this window display from Kikki-K and all those triangles really caught my eye. As it is the way for me I’ve been seeing triangles ever since. Is there a name for that? I mention it so often, this idea of when you become aware of something; a word or image you…

I wasn’t very happy with my last attempt at my seeds and pods patterns so I decided to go back to the drawing board. I made a few colour modifications to the pattern template because I felt it would work better with a reduced colour palette. The other change I made was my palette and…

My love of WordPress began a few years ago and one of the things that makes it stand out is the community and the seemingly endless number of plugins that enhance the core functionality. When working on projects I will often go in search of a plugin if I have an immediate need that requires…

It was Zuppa Atelier’s small garden plate (bottom right) that caught my eye this week and I’ve been seeing topiary shapes ever since. I know technically they are small trees but they just reminded me of topiary and my neighbour’s impeccably shaped rose bushes – how do they do that? We have been toiling away…
